Composting

Yard trimmings and food residuals together constitute 24% of the United States' municipal solid waste stream. This is a lot of waste to send to landfills when it could become useful and environmentally beneficial compost instead!

Composting offers the obvious benefits of resource efficiency and creating a useful product from organic waste that would otherwise have been landfilled. For additional information and helpful tips on composting, please visit the following websites:

The Riverside County Waste Management Department holds composting workshops and sells composting bins to all residents of Riverside County. For more information, please call (951) 486-3200.
