The Corona Department of Water & Power, with Western Municipal Water District, is proud to offer a rebate of $1.00 per square foot to our commercial customers to remove turfgrass and install water-friendly landscaping! This is a pilot program; funds are limited to $50,000 for the program. Reserve your spot today!
Landscape is a major source of water use and waste. One of the highest water consuming plants in a typical landscape is turfgrass. Reducing or eliminating turfgrass and replacing it with California-native or water-friendly landscaping increases water efficiency. This can translate into big savings, including lower water bills and less landscape maintenance.
Program Details:
- Please read all program guidelines and eligibility requirements prior to applying for the rebate and before removing any turfgrass.
- All sites must be inspected and approved by the Corona Department of Water & Power prior to the removal of any lawn or landscape conversion.
- Each site must have a dedicated landscape water meter using potable water.
- A minimum of 6,000 square feet of turf must be removed, excluding the parkway. Parkways are not included as a part of this program.
- A maximum rebate amount of $10,000 per project address; however, customers may choose to remove more turfgrass for their conversion area.
- The submittal and approval of landscape plans are required for this program; all landscaping must comply with the City's Landscape Design Guidelines for Commercial & Industrial Developments.
- The plan check fees and deposit normally required for plan check services will be waived for customers that are approved to participate in this program.
- Existing irrigation systems must be converted to drip systems and a "smart" irrigation controller must also be installed.
- The rebate does not cover impermeable surfaces such as concrete. All materials, such as weed barriers, must be permeable to air and water.
