Reference: Officer Involved Shooting

On Thursday, July 19th, 2012, at approximately 1940 hours, the Corona Police Department was called to a domestic dispute with a report of one gun shot being fired at the Corona West Mobile Home Park, 995 Pomona Road, City of Corona.  

Upon arrival, officers saw the male suspect leaving the area driving a silver, Honda Accord at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the suspect vehicle through the mobile home park.
During the pursuit, the suspect jumped out of the moving vehicle armed with a handgun which resulted in an officer involved shooting. The suspect was transported to Riverside Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  No one else was injured during the incident.  

The suspect was identified as David Miguel Ventura, 34 years old from Corona and is currently on active parole.  

The officers, whose names are not being released, were not injured. The Corona Police Department's Officer Involved Shooting Team responded and is handling the investigation. Investigators located a small caliber handgun at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.  The Corona Police Department is asking anyone with information about this incident to please call Sr. Detective Dan Dunnigan at 951-817-5768
