Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program

NOTICE: The continued success of the City of Corona Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program (AFVRP) has resulted in all funds being paid.  New funding is expected after July 1, 2012.

Even in the best of times, the cost of purchasing a new or used car can put a strain on the family budget so a little relief in the cost of a new or used car is especially welc ome. To this end, the Corona City Council has approved a new program that would rebate Corona residents $2,000 for the purchase a new qualified Alternative Fuel Vehicle or $1,000 for a qualified used vehicle.

To qualify, vehicles must be powered by Compressed Natural Gas, electric/battery or be a non-diesel hybrid and meet emission standards set by the California Air Resources Board. Rebates are only available to licensed drivers living in the City of Corona. Vehicles must be purchased from an auto dealership authorized to do business within the City of Corona.  Rebates apply only to the purchase of a qualified vehicle and cannot be used to lease a vehicle.

Special funding for this program comes through the South Coast Air Quality Management District and comes from a portion of a $4 fee paid on vehicle registrations.
