What are Brownfields?
Federal Definition
"With certain legal exclusions and additions, the term 'brownfield site' means real
property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the
presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant."

USEPA Definition
"Brownfields are real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be

Goals and Objectives
The goal of the Agency is to identify potentially contaminated properties within the City of
Corona and assess which properties have the highest potential for redevelopment. It is
also the intent of the Agency to educate our community and raise awareness of
environmental issues such as brownfields.
Brownfields Redevelopment Benefits
Brownfields site redevelopment has a vast number of potential benefits to the community
and the city as a whole, such as:
* Increasing opportunities for vacant land reuse within the City
* Stimulating economic development within the City
* Enticing developers to invest in the community resulting in increased job creation
* Reducing possible contamination and environmental hazards
* Improving the overall quality of life in the City of Corona
* Creating opportunities to generate revenue for the City
