Redevelopment Project  Areas

Redevelopment Project Areas

A Project Area is a designated area where actual redevelopment takes place.  The Project Area must first go to a public hearing, giving citizens who will be included in the Project Area an opportunity to express their views, after which the redevelopment agency acts on the adoption of the Project Area and becomes primarily responsible for future redevelopment projects.

Each Project Area has a Redevelopment Plan that governs and guides the activities of the Project Area. The Plan establishes the goals and objectives for each Project Area and provides the Agency with the ability to facilitate certain actions such as to purchase and sell land within the project area, improving dilapidated facilities and to use tax increment financing.

Corona has two redevelopment project areas. A description of each area follows.

Corona Revitalization Zone

In May 2011, the Agency adopted the Corona Revitalization Zone ("CRZ"). It's made up of approximately 5,078 acres of residential, commercial/retail, industrial, public facilities and open space uses. The CRZ includes the areas previously designated under Project Area A, Downtown Project Area, Main Street South Project Area, Temescal Canyon Project Area and the Merged Project Areas. McKinley Project Area

This is our smallest project area created in 1987.  This  project area contains approximately 122 acres and consists of commercial  and industrial uses.
