The CERT Program, implemented in many communities across the country, is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially recognized CERT as an important part of a community's disaster preparedness program. The Corona Fire Department is pleased to bring this program to our community. The training encompasses the following elements: disaster preparedness, fire suppression, Disaster Medical Operations, Terrorism, CERT Organization, and an overview of the City's emergency management system.
The City of Corona Fire Department Community Emergency Response Team program, otherwise known as CERT, is a volunteer program, to prepare the community for increased self-reliance and to supplement City resources in the event of a disaster or other major emergency. The CERT volunteers are trained in emergency procedures and are duly registered as Disaster Service Workers in accordance with the California Government Code and the City of Corona Municipal Code.
